Anime Review: Samurai X: The Movie 3

Another movie in the Rurouni Kenshin saga finds Kenshin with his crew on vacation. They run into another swordsman who rights injustices in the street and befriend him. Only to find out he is a part of a terrorist group planning a rebellion against those in charge of the Manji government as revenge for a massacre of their people. Oh and Kenshin also is responsible for killing this guy’s brother during the war.

Personally, I'm a huge Kenshin fan. This movie on the other hand, not so much. There is one cool scene at the beginning and the end where massive fights take place, but other than that, this movie was kind of a bore. I went through the whole movie cleaning my entire stock of tennis shoes without really ever looking up or paying attention. There is a random love story (boring), a B-plot with Yahiko (boring), and even a hidden villain manipulating everyone behind the scenes (really boring). On top of that, save the opening fight scene, the artwork in the movie is inferior to the show and other movies. This seemed a bit low budget.

So go check out some of the original stuff, or watch the series again. Don’t waste a Friday night with this one (unless you are a die hard fan who needs to see every Kenshin story ever; which I thought I was by they way until I wanted that hour and a half of my life back).
