What happens when a black family from the south side of Chicago moves to the elite suburb society of Woodcrest? Everything you could feasibly imagine. Based on the popular nation wide comic, The Boondocks takes off where Dave Chappelle left off.

This show covers every social injustice (racial or not) and makes it into a complete laugh riot. From minor issues such as text messages and Bluetooth headsets; to major political and racial issues such as the treatment of Katrina victims and the abuse of those with money manipulating society. Nothing is taboo here. There was even a episode about whether or not Martin Luther King’s dream for racial equality has been deferred purely based on the current situation and attitude of blacks today. This show is definitely has a message, but the comedy is what gets you there (instead of just preaching at you for thirty minutes). While some episodes are vastly better than others, overall, every episode has laugh-out-loud moments throughout. And for an American production team, the artwork in this show is great (not to mention the amazing voice acting, score and direction).

So if you are looking to check out one of the first great American animes, then head over to your local DVD store and pick up seasons 1 & 2 of The Boondocks. Or check it out on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.
