It’s the future. The human race has master all sorts of feats of computer technology including: prosthetic bodies, telepathic radio burst transmissions, holographic portable HUD’s and AI controlled robots with personalities. This is the world of Ghost in the Shell. In this series, the story follows an elite police task force known as Section 9, which specifically deals with technology based crime (both violent and non-violent). The main character, known as “The Major”, is a bionically enhanced female officer who is the best at all things law enforcement and espionage.

I can’t say I have too much expertise with this show, or even a clear judgment as to whether I like it or not. I’ve only had a chance to see roughly five or six episodes, and I’ve had a different response to each episode. Some of them contain a lot of character development and some contain a lot of action. Typically, the action is always pretty awesome while the character development on the other hand is either on point or its not. One court case episode I saw was absolutely amazing. One of the main characters is brought in on a murder trail and is then accused of using excessive force on the suspect (supposedly because he has a prosthetic body). This episode was phenomenal and it drew me all thirty minutes of the show. On the other hand, there was an episode around The Major’s background as a child and I slept through it. One other thing to take note about this show is how beautiful it is. The artwork is far above many other recent animes that are popular even right now.

(Remember: Keep in mind I’ve only seen a handful of episodes) So I know based on its mass popularity, and its large fan base that people would highly recommend it, but I would consider some of the other animes I reviewed previously before getting into this one.
