Anime Review: Shin Chan

Another Adult Swim show, Shin Chan. This show is centered around a perverted kindergartener and his misadventures. Other characters include his girl obsessed father, his mother who is obsessed with getting breast implants, a loser next-door neighbor who can’t get into college, and many other colorful characters. This is essentially a mature mix of Nickelodeon’s Doug and Rugrats.

This show overall is pretty hilarious. From the quality of animation, it seems to be a rather old show, but the writers/translators have updated it, and have added jokes that would apply to modern times. Overall these jokes are funny, but Shin’s obsessions with poop jokes can sometimes be too much. The funniest moments seem to come from Shin’s schoolmates who all have very distinctive and adult personalities. From a future politician obsessed with his image, to a closet homosexual, these kids continuously have all sorts of trouble to get into on the playground. If you are looking for something to make you laugh for thirty minutes at a time, this is a good distraction.
